Throwing Hats in the Ring
I have to admit I find it interesting watching the various politicians throw their hats in the ring as potential candidates for President in the next election.
One of the most interesting, of course, is Hillary Clinton. Personally I have very mixed feelings about that.
First of all, no I don’t mind her for the reasons some people seem to. I don’t care how much more vocal than average she was as a First Lady. I always saw that as a plus. But it simply comes down to I don’t feel she has the experience for this position.
Frankly it amazes me that she even made it to Senator, no matter the name. I really believe a politician needs to hold office in his or her own name, not as a spouse, to truly understand the job, and that means working up from lower offices and gaining experience on their own.
That said, I do love seeing a woman feel comfortable running for this office. That hasn’t happened nearly often enough.
It’s interesting reading perspectives on Hillary Clinton. Where I feel she is too inexperienced, others laud her experience in the political spotlight. I disagree, but that’s just fine.
I have to face that others do indeed consider her experience to be excellent. It’s fascinating how different people perceive these things differently. I do expect Hillary Clinton to get tons of media coverage, since at the very least she is highly controversial and flat out hated by so many.
Like many others, I would find a Clinton/Obama ticket just fascinating. I need to know more about Barack Obama, but it is a delight seeing just the possibility of a ticket that isn’t just rich white men. Now I just have to wait and see how viable a team they might be.
Watching the candidates at this point doesn’t mean all that much. So many will be nothing, and someone I’ve never even heard of could take the lead.
